Hub Volunteers

There are many diverse opportunities available within Community Meeting Point activity and resource hub.

Activity facilitator volunteers
Do you have a few hours a week and skills that you could share with our members? If so then perhaps you could facilitate one of our structured activity groups. We run activities in a range of different subjects depending on the needs of members. If you feel you have something to offer please contact us today.
One to One Community Engagement support volunteers
Could you spend a few hours a week working on a one-to-one basis with members? Often our members have lost contact with friends or family, as well as experiencing a loss of confidence in social situations. Our one to one volunteers aim to support members to re-build their confidence by providing a vital listening ear and encouraging members to get out and about to rediscover old interests or learn new ones. The role of a one to one volunteer can be diverse and rewarding. Full training is provided.

Shop Volunteers

We have a range of volunteering opportunities available in our charity shop. We have listed these below:

Stockroom Volunteers
Have you got an eye for fashion? Support us to sort clothing, shoes and bric-a-brac into items we can either sell or recycle. Preparation of stock for resale includes steaming, hanging, sizing, ticketing and pricing.
Admin Assistant
Do you have numeracy skills and a good attention to detail? A successful shop will mean that we need to keep on top of our administration. This will include things like daily cash paperwork, stock taking records, sales figures, arranging house collections and much more.
Window Dresser
Do you have creative and artistic approach to design? The Window Dresser will be responsible for the design and dressing of periodic window displays, as well as having a creative input into the overall presentation of the shop.
Shop Assistant
Are you reliable and trustworthy with excellent interpersonal skills? If you like meeting new people and providing a great service, join our team of assistants who are responsible for duties including handling cash, customer service, stock rotation and overseeing the shop presentation.
Driver
Do you have a clean driving license, an ability to work alone or as part of a team and a courteous manner? We are seeking willing volunteers to arrange collections from people’s houses and to dispose of those items we are unable to sell.
Assistant Manager
Were you born to lead? In this role you will support the Centre Manager to provide support to volunteers and service users, have a responsibility for the overall performance of the shop, work to maximize sales and ensure high standards of presentation and customer service

Whatever volunteering role you choose you will be part of a team dedicated to supporting local people whose lives have been affected by mental illness.

The benefits of volunteering

Apart from the opportunity to work for a great charity and have fun at the same time there are many benefits to volunteering including:

  • The opportunity to gain valuable work experience and new skills within a friendly supportive environment
  • The opportunity for personal and professional development through personalised training
  • The chance to meet new people and make new friends
  • We can provide references for both existing and former volunteers
  • An opportunity to make a real difference in your local community
  • A chance to make a real change to people’s lives through volunteering for a local charity that provides services to local people.
  • An opportunity to put your skills to good use and make a real difference at the same time

The range of volunteering opportunities available with CMP is diverse; we aim to match an individual’s preference and skills with the opportunities on offer.
