T&BC
The training and business centre opened in 1994. The manager is a former psychiatric nurse with a management background. The deputy manager also has a psychiatric nursing background. There are about 14 members and volunteers working at the T&BC, which is open on Mondays from 9:30 to 12:30 and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 4:30. It also is open all year round apart from a few Bank Holidays. The T & BC offers the opportunity for members to work as a team, to assemble and package (to a high standard) a variety of goods for commercial companies. It also offers individual training in office skills and computing.
The training and business centre offers people who have lost self confidence a secure place to regain a sense of self worth and to make a contribution to society. The learning of new skills may lead on to employment if appropriate. There is reward money paid which does not affect the members' benefits.
